Asking for wisdom: I and II kings

A child asking for wisdom is so powerful and humbling. Solomon was like no other king and asked for wisdom admitting he was a child and couldn't do it on his own. God loved his request so much he said that he would give him wisdom and discernment like no other as well as honor, wealth, and a long life if he were faithful. WOW what a powerful lesson of a selfless prayer.

I can't get over how even with wisdom Solomon still was stupid and was obsessed with women which was his fall into temptation. Goes to show that we all fall short of the glory of God. Even the wisest of kings.

In II Kings I can't help but wonder what God and Elijahs relationship was like for God to take up Elijah before he even dies. "As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind."
II KINGS 2:11
