This is day 1 of our land portion of Alaska, no more cruise, no more being spoiled with all we can eat. But so much more adventures ahead in Alaska! We left our boat in Whittier, and rode on a shuttle through longest tunnel in North America to Anchorage (the tunnel is something like 2 1/2 miles, too long to hold my breath which I usually do in tunnels). We got a rental car and drove to Seward, where Andy's cousin worked last summer. After we ate at Subway we went to Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park (our 2nd national park on this trip). We hiked right up to the glacier but didn't walk on it because it is too dangerous at the toe of glaciers due to melting. After that on the way back to Anchorage we drove to Girdwood and Alyeska to check out the Ski Resort. We drove the rest of the way to Anchorage and checked into hotel. Got a dirty room and had to switch, which also wasn't the best room we ever been in :) We didn't like Anchorage very much because we thought the town was kinda ugly and because or our experience with a bad hotel.
