Our God is a jealous God. It's biblical. Exodus 20:4 says "You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods." His jealousy is pure and holy.
God has the earth literally swallow people that are worshiping other Gods. I only think its amazing because it shows how powerful God is. Check out this story.
Numbers 16:30-35
New International Version (NIV)
30 But if the LORD brings
about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows
them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into
the realm of the dead, then you will know that these men have treated
the LORD with contempt.”
Yes our God is a jealous God and we should fearfully love Him.
You, Yourself, are to be feared; and who may stand in Your presence when once You are angry? (Psalm 76:7)
It's hard for us to understand a God that is jealous and gets angry yet is perfect, loving, and merciful. Search and strive to get to know Him better. He loves us and is a personal God. He wants you to pursue Him.
31 As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart 32
and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households,
and all those associated with Korah, together with their possessions. 33
They went down alive into the realm of the dead, with everything they
owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from
the community. 34 At their cries, all the Israelites around them fled, shouting, “The earth is going to swallow us too!”
35 And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense.Yes our God is a jealous God and we should fearfully love Him.
