Trisha (Andy's mom) taught me how to read a pattern. If I tried buying a pattern on my own I would be totally lost. It looks like a foriegn language. I learned so many new sewing vocabulary words. She showed me how to lay out the pattern and then I cut it out. Then she showed me how to read the sewing directions for the particular simple dress that we were about to make for Alyeska. This is only the second time I took out my sewing machine since I got it for Christmas. Trisha did the more difficult parts (the neck and arm finishing touches), she would do one side and I did the next. Steve (Andy's dad) hammered on the snaps, they were difficult to line up just right. It was a lot of fun! I can't wait until the next project. I am going to stick with simple stuff for awhile until I get the hang of it. Hopefully we'll do a sewing project every time they come here or I go to Georgia.
Yay! How cute and exciting to sew a dress for your little lady!
