We just finished end of year core testing with my students. Now that I taught everything on the Utah Core for 2nd grade, its time to have some fun with some science that isn't on the core. Last week we made a worm farm, measured worms, worm poems, worm diaries, had dirt and worm dessert. Sadly this year we didn't get to have worm races because by the time the worms got touched by 75 kids all week they died. It wouldn't make for a very fun race. This week we are talking all about air, they are playing with balloons, making parachute men, and other activities such as helicopter bunnies. The end of the year is fun but still a bit difficult to fill the time. I taught my kids up to their 3 times tables and we are starting on 4s this week. I am hoping to have them fairly fluent up to their 5s by the end of the school year. Love teaching!
