Cloth diapers

I feel so blessed that I get to stay home with my baby so I decided to do cloth diapers to save us lots of money since we will not have my income anymore. I have learned so much about cloth diapers so far let me educate you all. There are 4-5 main types of cloth diapers.

1. Ancient diapers: where you fold a huge cloth and use pins to attach the diaper to your baby, you also need a water resistant diaper cover to prevent leaks. My mom used these kinds on me and my brother. This is the obviously the cheapest way to go but there is no way I'm doing these :)

2. Prefold cloth diapers: This is one step above the ancient diapers where the huge cloth is sewn together into layers so you don't have to fold it everytime and so it also stays it shape. They also have better attachers that won't poke your baby. This diaper still requires a waterproof diaper cover to prevent leaks. This is the second cheapest way to go but still requires a lot more work to diaper your baby.

3. Precut cloth diapers: This diaper is sewn the way a disposable diaper is to your babies leg shape. These often have some kind of elastic around the waste and legs. You can get these with snaps, Velcro or you can use other types of attachments. These need a diaper cover.

4. Pocket cloth diapers, or snap on inserts: This is the same as above but you put absorbing cloth insets in the inside of the diaper and take them out when you clean them. These don't need a diaper cover because the outer shell is water resistant.

5. All in one cloth diapers: These diapers do not need any inserts, diaper covers, or attachments. It's an all in one diapers that you throw in the wash. The only disadvantage is they are the most expensive and take the longest to dry.

The cool part about numbers 4 and 5 is they sale one size fits all because the snaps change the size as your baby get's older. I will probably be choosing 4 or 5, and a one size fits all. There is still so much to learn such as what is the best cloth to choose from because some materials stain and stink more than others. Some diapers leak and fall apart faster and so on. So I continue in my research for different brands, best prices, and what will best work for us. I'm hoping whatever I buy can be used for all of our kids so it will only save us more money. I'm still debating if I want to use cloth wipes as well.
